Program Overview

Running is the BEST!

I have been an avid runner for over 30 years, and nothing makes me happier than sharing my love of the sport with young girls.  If you commit to running, it delivers so much more than just the physical benefits of endurance, speed, and strength.  Running also brings, lifelong friends and teammates, unforgettable experiences and mental fortitude.

Yes, running can be challenging and to quote one of my running role models:

Don’t try to rush the progress.  Remember – a step forward, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction.” – Kara Goucher, World Championship Bronze Medalist

STRIVERS is here to help you take that first step by supporting you through training and introducing you to women who have used running to help themselves and their community. Our coaches are here to support your goals and cheer you across your finish line!

The Fall 2021 Season is outlined below.  We plan to end each session with a STRIVERS 5k held for our team members only.  As in person road races open, we do plan to pick one to attend and will keep you posted on those plans.

We hope your daughter will join one of our fall STRIVERS sessions.

Races

Based on the positive feedback from our spring sessions, we plan to end each fall session with a STRIVERS 5K. The two races we held were very successful and fun. It allowed us to keep everyone’s safety and health in mind but still celebrate the girl’s commitment to training.  As more local runs open, we are planning to offer an in-person road race for those interested. We will share the details with the team in the fall.

Cross Training

We will be working with Coach D of FIERCE by Choice ( Fight, Inspire, Encourage, Reach, Coach, Empower) this spring. We’re fusing a full body bootcamp, fierce mindset coaching, and a grounding yoga series into one of our practices.  This practice has been designed to help the girls and team let go of limiting beliefs, challenge their bodies in ways that compliment their running, and shows them what they are truly capable of both on and off the track. https://www.fiercebychoice.com/

Spring Speaker

Noelle Lambert  –  Noelle is a para-athlete and founder of The Born to Run Foundation. Noelle lost her left leg in a moped accident in 2016 during a summer trip to Martha’s Vineyard. At the time, she was a student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and played Division 1 lacrosse on UMass Lowell’s women’s lacrosse team, the Riverhawks. Noelle will be participating in the 2021 Tokyo Paraolympics and sharing that experience and more with our teams! https://noellelambert.com/about/

STRIVERS Team Project

STRIVERS’ will get to meet the two Natick residents training to run the 2021 Boston Marathon on October 11th.  Graham Briggs and Lauren Osborne will not only take on the challenge of training to run 26.2 miles but, they are also fundraising for The STRIVERS Inc. Scholarship Fund. Both Graham and Lauren will stop by to run with us, talk about training, and then return after the Marathon to share their experiences. We are excited to support them with a CHEER ZONE on Marathon Day!

Community Outreach

Our community outreach project will be announced before the sessions begin.

Our program runs twice a year, Fall and Spring.   We limit the number of girls we take in each session in order to make this experience rewarding for your daughter and allow us to maintain the intimacy of the group.  Girls interested in STRIVERS should have some athletic ability and the desire to run.

Financial Support is Available: If your daughter would like to be part of STRIVERS and financial assistance is needed, please contact Colleen Phelps at [email protected]

Refund Policy: The registration fee minus $50 processing fee will be refunded if cancellation occurs before the first week of practice. No refunds will be issued after the session starts.
