In a region rich in running history and with stars on the starting line for even local races, STRIVERS has earned a place at the table; an identity that makes STRIVERS stand out among youth running programs everywhere.
In 2009 Colleen Phelps founded the STRIVERS Running Club to help middle school girls build self-esteem and self-confidence and to teach them about healthy lifestyles through the central theme of running. Colleen has loved running for over 30 years, and when she joined a women’s running club to train for her first marathon, she discovered the power of being with a group of like-minded women.
On April 1, 2015, STRIVERS Running Club for Girls was honored to receive the Community Business Shining Light Award from Natick’s Education Foundation (NEF). This award recognizes businesses that have exhibited leadership and support for education and better well being in Natick. A grant will be named in honor of STRIVERS Running Club.
